Removal of three Olympic medals from a Southern California residence

Three Olympic medals for women’s volleyball were taken during a house invasion in Southern California, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said on Thursday in LOS ANGELES.

According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, the medals were the team’s gold from the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, silver from the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and bronze from the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.

According to the sheriff’s office, they were in a safe that was taken on the evening of October 29 from a residence in Laguna Hills, an Orange County community that is located inland and to the east of the same name beach.

The athlete’s identity was not released by the sheriff’s office. Investigators are collaborating with USA Volleyball and the athlete, according to department spokesman Carrie Braun.

According to the sheriff’s office, the three stolen medals were being temporarily held at the residence.

The 2020 Games gold medal belonged to starting setter Jordyn Poulter, and it was taken from her vehicle in Anaheim in May. A month later, the medal was returned after being discovered abandoned in a plastic bag behind a barbershop. A person who was detained has entered a not-guilty plea.

The Covid-19 epidemic forced the 2020 Tokyo Games to be moved to 2021, making them a landmark event for women’s volleyball.

Team USA defeated Brazil to win the team’s first Olympic gold.

The three medals that were stolen are being sought for by the sheriff’s office. Anyone who notices someone wearing a medal when they shouldn’t is urged to contact the sheriff’s office.

A request for comment on Thursday night was not immediately answered by USA Volleyball.
